Romantic Things To Do For Couples Visiting Jamaica

Jamaica Sunset

Jamaica is often thought of as a romantic island, which makes it the perfect destination for an anniversary or honeymoon. In fact, it is often counted among one of the most romantic islands in the world, with amazing moonlit nights and sunny laid-back days.

There is no shortage of secluded beaches, lush green rainforests and beautiful spots on the island and there is nothing better than chilling in a luxurious Jamaica beach house to start your romantic getaway.

Here are some of the most romantic and fun spots to explore by couples visiting Jamaica.

1. Blue Lagoon Adventures

The Blue Lagoon is definitely one of the most romantic spots in Jamaica. It is no wonder that the famous 1980 movie “Blue Lagoon” starring Brooke Shields was filmed here. According to legend, the waters of the Blue Lagoon carry an aphrodisiac effect at a depth of nearly 200 feet.  Honeymooning couples like swimming in the warm waters to find out the truth about the legend and watch the colours of the water change from deep blue to glowing green throughout the day.

Just climb to the top of this spectacular formation that looks like a giant wedding cake. You can join a human chain that is led by a sure-footed guide and enjoy some of the most scenic spots of the natural wonder. It is one of Jamaica’s national treasures and as well known as reggae. It carries a fascinating history and is believed to be the site of the legendary battle of “Las Chorreras”, fought in the year, 1657.

Couples love exploring the 700-foot Mystic Mountain and then taking a tropical forest adventure tour to see Ocho Rios from a different vantage point. The forest’s rich ecosystem with spectacular views and sparkling river streams offer a unique array of adventure and exhilarating excursions. The descent from the top of Mystic Mountain on the chairlift offers magical glimpses of the tropical seaside rainforests as one goes through the heart of the canopy. 6. Adventures in Green Grotto Caves

Discovery Bay in the Ocho Rios area boasts of the Green Grotto Caves, a complex made of limestone. It’s an interesting area to explore together and feel part of the rich history of Jamaica when both pirates and runaway slaves used the caves as their hiding place. Just stroll through the shadowy caves, view the stalagmites and the stalactites and gaze at the primitive artwork left by the earliest Jamaica inhabitants. Couples especially enjoy the ghostly Grotto Lake that is accessible only by boat and a great spot to cuddle.

I think these attractions would appeal not only to romantic couples but to any visitors coming to Jamaica! It’s a great list and I didn’t realise quite how much natural landscape attractions there were. We visited over 20 years ago and we did enjoy visiting Dunns River Falls, we went up a mountain and cycled down (but I think not the Mystic Mountain) and we enjoyed beaches and markets as well. But I’d love to see the caves, the blue lagoon and the luminous lagoon!

You’re right, these sights are suitable for friends as well as couples. As well as these there are secret spots you can get away from the crowds but we are not going to share those.

There’s lots more to do than just lying on the beach although that’s not really too bad

Jamaica is on my list, and I would love to head for an anniversary here – we’re very big nature people, and love natural attractions and the outdoors, so the range of waterfalls, mountains and lagoons really appeals to me. I would LOVE to experience the glistening Waters’ Luminous Lagoon – while you can take a cruise, can you swim here too?

Yes, you can swim there, the luminescence is not quite as bright as the pics but it is still amazing. Although this excursion can get busy there are lots of other romantic places to escape to.

I loved Glistening Waters! It was so magical like nothing I’d ever seen. I’d like to also add YS Falls to this list – it’s awesome, and a little less touristy than Dunns River Falls!
