Embarking on Celebrity Apex from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale, Florida offers the perfect blend of relaxation, gourmet dining, and cultural exploration. With stops in Ponta Delgada, the Azores, and Bermuda, we were looking forward to the experience but would the Atlantic weather be on our side?
Setting Sail From Southampton
The journey begins in the historic port of Southampton, the UK’s main cruise port. As you step aboard the Celebrity Apex, the ship’s modern design and upscale amenities welcome you. The Edge-class ship is renowned for its innovative features, such as the Magic Carpet—a floating platform offering breathtaking views—and its diverse dining options.
A Taste Of The Azores, Ponta Delgada
After several ‘bumpy’ days at sea, the first port of call is Ponta Delgada, the largest city in the Azores. Nestled in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, this Portuguese archipelago is a haven of natural beauty. Explore the lush landscapes of Sete Cidades, a twin-lake volcanic crater surrounded by rolling hills and vibrant greenery.
At Last Bermuda
After another four sea days crossing the Atlantic, eventually, Bermuda will greet you. Famous for its pink sand beaches and turquoise waters, this British territory offers an idyllic stop. Spend your day snorkelling at Horseshoe Bay or wandering the charming streets of Hamilton. We chose to explore the historic Royal Naval Dockyard and its fort. Don’t miss trying a Dark ‘n Stormy cocktail, a quintessential Bermudian drink.
Arriving In Fort Lauderdale
The final leg of the journey brings you to the ‘sunny‘ shores of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We were driving the short distance to Miami for another cruise, this time with Royal Caribbean.
