Our Honest First Impressions Of Cunard’s Queen Anne

Queen Anne Cruise Ship

After months of looking forward to it, embarkation day had finally arrived! We were about to board Cunard’s Queen Anne for the very first time as we set sail on a 7-night Norway Fjords cruise from Southampton. But there was one thing playing on our minds before we stepped on board: the mixed reviews.

As Cunard’s newest cruise ship, Queen Anne has divided opinion since her launch. Some passengers have praised her modern design and beautiful public spaces, while others have questioned whether she lives up to the high standards associated with the Cunard name. Naturally, we were curious to find out the truth for ourselves.

Our journey began at Southampton’s Mayflower Cruise Terminal, not the most modern terminal. Check-in was straightforward, and before long we were walking up the gangway ready to discover what Queen Anne had to offer.

One of our first impressions was just how impressive the ship looked. Although she has a much more contemporary design than Cunard’s classic QM2, she still retains many of the elegant touches the cruise line is famous for. From the stylish lounges and Pavilion to the open deck spaces, there was plenty to explore from the moment we stepped on board.

Of course, first impressions only tell part of the story. Over the next seven nights we’ll be putting Queen Anne to the test as we cruise through some of Norway’s most spectacular fjords. We’ll be sharing our honest experiences of the food, entertainment, cabins, service and ports of call to help anyone considering booking a Queen Anne cruise.

One thing we’ve learned from travelling over the years is that online reviews only tell part of the story. Every traveller has different expectations, and sometimes the best way to judge a destination, hotel or cruise ship is to experience it for yourself. That’s exactly what we set out to do on this voyage.

Our first few hours on board certainly gave us plenty to be optimistic about, but you’ll have to watch the full video to see whether Queen Anne exceeded our expectations or whether, the reviews turned out to be accurate.
