Travel Advice

Time To Talk Transfers

Let’s talk about airport transfers. You arrive at an unfamiliar airport after being on a plane for far too long, you’ve already been travelling for hours since leaving the house before dawn. You’ve been lucky with the luggage carousel lottery. All the bags have turned up and unexplainably one is soaking wet, it hasn’t even been raining!

Now it’s time to get to your hotel and here’s your choice.

Public Transport – The backpackers favourite and sometimes the cheapest.
Unfortunately, we are no longer backpackers we need more than one pair of pants and a toothbrush so we have a few cases. After a tiring trip, we want to get to the hotel in comfort and don’t relish the thought of carrying bags on a crowded bus or train to a station which is still at least half a mile from our hotel.

Taxi – Unlicenced taxi touts aside, even some of the ‘legitimate’ taxi companies can be a slightly dodgy. Not many cities offer set fares into the centre of town so you are at the mercy of a taxi driver who seems less familiar with the city than you!

There is the Uber option although it is still not available in many cities or they are prevented from airport pickups.

Chauffeur Service – A pre-booked pickup from the airport direct to your hotel, but which company? You want to know what you are getting, a consistently high standard irrespective of the city or country you are in. You don’t want a limo in one country and then find yourself in a car straight out of Mad Max in another.

For our recent trip to Krakow, Poland we were asked to try the limousine and chauffeur services from Blacklane. As it was our first time in Krakow and we were looking for a suitable transfer their service sounded ideal.

Blacklane offers their service in 50 countries around the globe and booking couldn’t be easier.

1. Simply visit their website or access the Blacklane App.
2. Choose your ride – from business class cars, business vans/SUVs to first class limos.
3. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Arrival In Krakow

We landed at Krakow on-time although Blacklane does include a 60 minute wait time. While waiting for the bags I had an email with the driver’s details and as we left customs, he was waiting for us with my name clearly displayed.

Airport Transfer

On Time Airport Pick Up

As you can see our driver, Mr Baran, gave us a good welcome and helped us with our bags to the black Mercedes which was parked close to the terminal.

Mercedes Transfer

Transfer By Mercedes

Within minutes we were out of the airport and sitting back in comfort as we headed for the centre of Krakow. No queuing, no hassles with money or the fear of being ripped off by an unscrupulous taxi driver.

On arrival at our hotel, Mr Baran helped us with our bags and that was it, simple and effortless. No hidden charges, no taxes or gratuities, the price you pay is all inclusive.

We found the Blacklane experience excellent and are glad they approached us to sample their service. The Blacklane App is now a feature on my iPhone and we will definitely be using their chauffeur service again soon. Especially as new destinations are being added to the Blacklane network every month, ranging from Asia to the USA.

It was the first time we tried them and would use them again. It’s good to sort out the transfer especially when arriving at a new airport. Another way to make your trip easier and hassle free.

I haven’t heard about Black Lane, however we often arrange to be picked up from the airport so I will keep this in mind as an option for future. The car looks great and the driver very friendly.

Knowing about Blacklane for the first time. It sounds very impressive. After a flight if the transfers are smooth it makes a very enjoyable experience. I will check this out.

I absolutely agree that there is a level of luxury above public transportation that allows us to relax after a long trip. In cases where you can’t get taxis, transfer service sounds an excellent option. What do you think about using Uber internationally?

We often use Uber when we are away but a number of cities in Europe such as Barcelona they are not allowed and some can’t pick up from airports. Blacklane does operate in Barcelona and these other cities.
With Blacklane you can prearrange before you leave.

We usually alternate between public transportation and shuttle services, but it is definitely nice to have a convenient transport option after a long flight! Blacklane sounds very convenient. We will have to check it out–thanks!

It also depends on the amount of luggage you have and how good or quick the local transport is. We need more comfort as we get older.

I’ve used Blacklane and they are awesome. Rather than an airport transfer, I had them drive my friends and I around Paris on a girls’ night. I highly recommend!

Looks like a very convenient service. I haven’t heard of them before but I’ll definitely make a note of Blacklane as I travel with small children and anything that makes the journey less painful is a win for me!
