A Review Of The Super Stylish Puro Hotel Krakow, Poland

I (Mrs W) am not a fan of corporate hotels, so when I look to book a luxury hotel for a few days away I try and find one that has interesting design features, colourful public areas or bedrooms that are that little bit different. A hotel with unique selling points. So when I was looking to book a hotel for a city break in Krakow Poland, the Puro Hotel Krakow fitted the bill perfectly.

The Puro Hotel is situated next to Galeria Krakowska, a large undercover shopping centre, near the mains train station and 15 minutes walk from Krakow’s main square. The hotel is modern, contemporary and is packed full of quirkiness and design features whilst still being elegant and modern.

Check-in was easy and straightforward from one of the two check-in assistants on duty. If for some reason no one was at the check in desk you could also check in yourself with a kiosk on reception.

As we checked in, I looked around and was immediately impressed. The lounge area combined cool retro furniture with a funky design, in greens, yellows and neutral colours. Really stylish.

I peeked through to the dining and bar area, and this space was more neutral in white, grey and pale woods and fresh flowers on the tables. Equally lovely but less quirky.

We were advised check out times, the time that breakfast was served (not included) and how to work the Wi-Fi which was free. Then we took the lift up to our room on the 5th floor.

The corridors were cool as when you walked through a section the lights came on in front of you, a nice touch!

The Bedroom

The standard room we booked was a reasonable size, not that big but fine for our needs. The bed was a king sized Hilding bed – one of the world’s comfiest apparently. I can also confirm it was super comfy.

The Large Flat Screen TV

Opposite the bed was a large flat screen TV built into the wall panel and controlled by an iPad – more of that later. Other features of the room included a small fridge and safe, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, complimentary toiletries and complimentary water.

The Puro Bathroom

Now onto the shower and toilet facilities. The toilet and shower facilities are behind beautiful etched glass panels. There are potentially some issues with this. Firstly there is no door between the shower and toilet, secondly, the whole of this area as I said, is glass. There is a curtain that you can pull across the shower area so if you are in the bedroom you do not have to see everything however noise certainly does travel.

If you are an old married couple (like us!) it may not bother you so much but if you are in a new relationship you may not be able to look at your loved one in the same way again!

Now back to the iPad. This is a superb way of organising what you need for the room. Through this, you can organise your room to be cleaned, operate the TV, lights and heating and browse the internet. A very clever idea indeed and one I feel more hotels should take up.

We really liked the room, especially the modern touches. The lights were also on a sensor so, if you got up in the night to go to the toilet the lights would come on miraculously and then go out again when you returned to bed. Genius!

The Stylish Puro Hotel

Other perks of the hotel included free National and International calls and complimentary hot drinks through a machine in the lounge area. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but the food looked great, and drinks although higher in price than in cafes were not extortionate.

We booked the Puro Krakow through an offer on the British Airways website. Three nights accommodation with flights including hold luggage from Heathrow was £189 per person in January 2017.

If you want a modern design hotel, close to the train station and don’t mind the intimacy of the glass shower and toilet then you will love the Puro Hotel Krakow.
